We are looking for a full-time Ortho Tech who will be responsible for all casting procedures, application/approval of soft goods, and providing assistance to the provider whenever needed to expedite the patient care process.   • Responsible for all casting and orthopaedic equipment.
  • Application and removal of all types of casts, splints and soft goods. Application and removal of upper and lower extremity casts.
  • Modify casts as needed in clinic and in hospital when necessary for the patient's benefit.
  • Instruct patient and parents/legal guardians in appropriate use and care of casts and orthopaedic equipment.
  • Responsible for inventory of all casting materials, splints and soft goods.

Requirements:

  • Ability to verbalize descriptions of orthopaedic conditions with basic understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another.
  • Ability to apply, adjust and remove all common and difficult orthopaedic devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of theory and application of skin, skeletal and manual tractions.
  • Expert knowledge of the proper application of aseptic techniques in dressing change, removal of sutures, staples,
  • Assist with rooming of patients.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Capture and enter patient information into EHR.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, such as x-rays and laboratory reports, is available for provider’s review.
  • Room patients into exam rooms with preparation for exam, and assist provider with exam.
  • Assist the provider with procedures as necessary.
  • Assist with preparing injections.
  • Dispensing and fitting of durable medical equipment.
  • Verify packing slip with products delivered and putting in the designated areas.
  • Prepare, clean and stock exam rooms for clinic.
  • Ability to cross-cover in other clinical departments, such as holding a patient during an X-Ray.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic human anatomy required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of Orthopaedic Tech experience preferred; Athletic Trainer or CMA experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Requires individual to be on their feet for long periods of time. Also requires individuals to be able to transport patients from wheelchair to x-ray table or exam table when necessary. Lifting 5-10 pounds is required for select tasks. Typically walking/standing up to 8 hours per day. Frequent bending and squatting also necessary.
