Rochester Sand and Gravel, a division of Mathy Construction Company since 1998, has been a part of the Southeast Minnesota and West Central Wisconsin community since 1946.  POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the foreman, the Finish Blade Operator should have the ability to roughly balance a roadway prior to blue topping, then final tolerance using bluetops and electronic blade controls. The Finish Blade Operator should be proficient at grading super curves, turn lanes, parking lots (large and small), shoulder construction and be able to fine grade 2 to 4 miles or rural two-lane roads in a twelve hour shift. On the job training will provide the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of one of our crews. 

This position is full-time seasonal working May through November (weather permitting).  Average work days usually last up to 14 hours, requiring overtime and working Saturdays.  Travel may be required in Southeastern Minnesota; however, workload may also require further travel under unique circumstances.  Qualified overnight stay will be compensated with per diem. 

 QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 to 10 years of Finish Blade experience
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Physically fit to perform the job functions including the ability to stand, squat, bend, lift, and walk for long durations
• Ability to give instruction/direction and communicate effectively while working in stressful situations
• Ability to listen and take direction from others
• Willingness to be a team player and help train less experienced employees
