The Student Resource Coordinator is responsible for working with students, administrators, faculty, and staff at all levels to assist in the implementation of strategies to promote student success. He/she serves as the liaison between students taking online classes, the local campus, and the host institution(s) in the consortium agreement relationship. He/she facilitates the success of students who engage in online learning by providing guidance, support, and tutoring to students. The Student Resource Coordinator is also responsible for providing library, reference, and support services to students and faculty. He/she manages operations for the library/learning resource center on campus and collecting data on the library/LRC usage. Additionally, he/she examines issues and concerns, participates in a dialog of problem-solving with students and the community, and provides direct support services to students. The Student Resource Coordinator provides student referrals to outside counseling and support services to remove barriers to degree completion.  Overall, he/she  oversees the activities directly related to student success and retention.

 


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manages processes and serves as the liaison for ground students engaged in online learning
  • Manages the recruitment of continuing ground students to take online courses.
  • Manages the registration of ground students who engage in online learning.
  • Manages withdrawal process from online courses of ground students who engage in online learning.
  • Ensures every ground student who engages in online learning satisfactorily completes the online student orientation prior to starting his/her first online course.
  • Serves  as  point  of  contact  at  the  home  institution  for  questions/advice regarding distance education and/or use of the learning management system
  • Assists with the resolution of any issues arising between students and online faculty.
  • Provides mediation between host institution and home institution students.
  • Monitors student attendance, retention, and academic progress utilizing available reports.
  • Provides academic advising for continuing and new students interested in distance learning.
  • Documents communication with students, faculty and administration regarding attendance and academic performance.
  • Supports ground students who engage in online learning and ensures campus distance education compliance
  • Provides and/or arranges academic support for students, at their request, who engage in online learning.
  • Provides and/or arranges academic support for students who engage in online learning when academic performance or attendance history indicates assistance is warranted.
  • Provides and/or arranges technical support for students engaged in online learning.
  • Provides online learning platform technical support for students who engage in online learning.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and reports data related to ground student participation and progress as required by the campus Director of Education, ACICS, Campus Effectiveness Plan and the CRC Academic Services Team.
  • Communicates processes and ensures campus compliance with administrative processes and procedures.
  • Assists in preparation of distance education regulatory/compliance activities.
  • Manages campus 49% distance learning rule activities/reports.
  • Holds weekly open lab sessions where students can receive help on anything from coursework to Moodle help.
  • Promotes library services
  • Provides support services to students
  • Develops, implements, and maintains study skills programs and other interventions to meet identified risks of withdrawal and improve retention results.
  • Responds to student questions and concerns and escalates as necessary to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Establishes weekly contact with at-risk students to continually reinforce their commitment to continuing their education.
  • Advises students to provide personal and academic support services designed to retain them as enrolled students.
  • Establishes and maintains current community resource center information and community contacts in a designated area of campus to facilitate students’ access to off-campus support services.
  • Establishes and manages a re-entry program in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure to maximize the number of returning students and their success.
  • Attends and participates in student orientations and campus commencement ceremonies to provide logistical support and ensure that graduation is perceived by students as a prestigious, highly desirable outcome.
  • Participates in campus retention activities and manages online course retention for ground students taking online courses
  • Completes required training and participates in required meetings/trainings

 

Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Education, Psychology, Library Services, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences or other job-related field (unless Master’s Degree required by state or accrediting bodies for library support)
  • Two years teaching experience or academic or student services administrative experience
  • Experienced with one or more online delivery platforms as an instructor or student
  • Complete the online training course within 15 calendars days of assuming the position.
  • Excellent communication, project management, conceptual, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deconstruct academic process and to map work flow
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
  • History of cross-functional and multi-level collaboration


Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Library Services, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences or other job-related field
  • Mastery of the use of CampusVue
  • Knowledge of library functions
  • Experienced with the provision of reference support Knowledge of and ability to use online databases, the internet, and traditional print resources
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in management of:
    • Record retention policies
    • Data privacy policies and procedures (FERPA)
    • ACICS Distance Education guidelines
    • Federal, state and regulatory requirements
    • Academic policies and procedures
