We are currently seeking 2 Temporary Equipment Operators to join our growing team! 

Position Overview:

To be on-call as needed for NRC 24-hours, 7 days per week on emergency response, land service and maritime contracts or projects within DOT requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execution of fieldwork encompassed in land services/excavation, marine services, industrial cleaning, UST removal, waste packaging and disposal, site demolition, emergency spill response and site cleanup projects while under limited no supervision.
  • Qualified with the operation of heavy equipment, rubber tire or trackhoe (backhoe, excavator, compactor, crane, loader, grader, bobcat) along with all associated attachments.
  • Execution of advanced skills in work associated with one or more of the skilled trades/crafts.
  • Proficient in the completion of all job-specific, employee related NRC paper work including Timesheets, Daily Work Reports and Daily Tailgate Safety Meeting Forms. Correct completion of Driver’s Logs and Notes/Incident Action Logbook. Correct completion of Hazardous Waste Manifests, Health and Safety Forms, Job Start Forms and Client Summary of Event Forms as required.
  • Ability to respond to petroleum/chemical spills on shoreline and uneven terrain under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to load/ unload drums, cylinders, equipment from and into vans, flatbeds, trailers
  • Ability to perform confined space work inside tanks of varying dimensions; involving squatting and crawling for possible extended periods.
  • Ability to perform associated duties in extremely hot and cold environments
  • Ability to assist in retrieval or cleanup of biomedical waste
  • Ability to follow directions; read/write/speak and understand English; read and understand common danger placards / labels and hazardous warning literature including site safety plans.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with company and client safety standards.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying (up to 75 pounds); use of hand tools, power tools, bending, stooping, shoveling and other physically demanding tasks on a daily basis.
  • Ability to perform work under sustained hours, uncomfortable weather conditions and rough terrain.
  • Execution of competent person training which includes field calibration of combustible gas indicators (CGI).
  • Ability to operate a forklift, blowers, diaphragm pumps, man lift, vacuum trucks, bin trucks, overhead/truck-mounted cranes and boats/trailers.
  • Ability to attach and operate equipment attachments for various vehicles (forklift, bobcat, etc).
  • Ability to set up a containment reduction zone consistent with OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to calibrate and use air monitoring equipment.
  • Familiar with all project related forms and documents as well as being an expert in the layout and operation of Company equipment as well as a variety of construction/rental equipment.
  • Must be clean shaven at all times to allow for immediate donning of respirator.
  • Supervise Technician I, II and III personnel along with EO I/Class A Driver with a basic understanding of NRC personnel policies and applicable laws and regulations. Demonstrate foreman capabilities and lead others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Requires High School or GED (or equivalent reading, writing and reasoning skills)
  • 5+ years of experience performing directly related work (fire fighting, emergency response, general construction, industrial cleaning).
  • Qualified employees must posses or be able to complete the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, plus posses current 8 hour hazwoper refresher certificate.
  • 8 hour OSHA Supervisor Certification. Class “A ” License with Hazmat Endorsement preferred; with a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets the NRCES Business Driving Policy standards and demonstrate level B competence with both SCBA and air-line respirators
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely operate all NRC skiffs and boats to 32’ FRV and Marco Skimmer.
  • Must have completion of applicable training to operate assigned equipment including large centrifugal pumps, pressure washers (all types, including hydroblasters) and all other small equipment (generators, compressors, light towers etc.) Need HM181 / 126F DOT Driver Training.
  • Must have training in hazardous materials management and compliance, or equivalent topics.
  • Must have advanced skills in marine oriented project experience or one or more specific labor trade task abilities, which greatly enhance job performance. Completion of applicable trade or craft training or apprenticeship programs preferred. Must be Confined Space Qualified and have CPR/First Aid Training.
