SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure a safe and efficient operation in the area assigned.  Assure compliance to product specifications and quality requirements. Must inspire others through motivation and leadership.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

  1. Obey GMP’s and PPE’s for production areas.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Resident expert on customer specifications for area must be able to pull information from Intranet, Flex, and Labor Data Bases.
  2. Assists Supervisor with plant start-ups; assists QC; gets right skill-set in the correct spots, manages absentees. Goal is to be ready 15 minutes prior to start-up of production.
  3. Verify Quality Paperwork on hourly basis; net weights, airs, and drain weights. Verify paperwork is completed correctly. (zero errors)
  4. First line of defense to fill-in on line (exception not the rule); relieve line inspectors for break
  5. Owns labor schedule for area; Develops labor needs for future schedules and presents to supervisor Forward looking and planning for week’s schedule;  updates daily production boards for next day’s production. E-Time Management
  6. Manages temporary workforce. An effective trainer; Ensure new employees/temporary employees in area are trained on job responsibilities, safety, GMP’s and process before put on line.
  7. Primary owner for area safety and housekeeping of all primary and secondary process areas (i.e. cooler) Drives improvement with each.
  8. Facilitates Daily Huddle Meetings, maintains the Board.
  9. Plans CI events with each Line Lead; participates in improvement and implementation.
  10. Develops and Updates Standard Work for each position in area
  11. Identify, reduce and explain any operational concerns.
  12. Drives line leads and hourly workforce to be trained needs to verify that they have all resources needed to fulfill schedules.
  13. Delegate to develop Line Lead’s
  14. Report employee performance feedback (positive and developmental) to supervisor or manager.
  15. Remains in constant communication with supervisor regarding any issues, concerns with production.
  16. Ensures all business unit employees meet Annual Required Training to include GMP’s and Safety
  17. Implements cross-training within process area; Monitors performance once employee is in role (example: # of retort deviations, # of batching errors, etc.)

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum of 6 months in a manufacturing environment.  Computer literate and working knowledge of operating systems (Windows), word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Excel), and basic knowledge of E-Mail (Outlook) preferred.

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job assignment an individual must meet the required job specific training located in the Training Register.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Effective verbal, telephone, written and interpersonal communication skills required.  Reading ability sufficient to understand moderately complex information (instruction manuals, procedural manuals, manufacturing specifications).  Ability to read/write/speak English required.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Mathematical ability sufficient to perform basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Writing ability sufficient to legibly record basic information (filling out forms, taking messages).  Analytical ability sufficient to use clearly defined work procedures and readily available facts or other information to make recommendations, which will achieve an established performance requirements.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position functions as an area lead worker, performing essentially the same work as those supervised.  Also responsible for training, instructing and directing co-workers and assisting in managing the production schedule.  May have input into performance evaluations. Accuracy is important.  Duties and responsibilities are assigned by Area Supervisor or others and performed under occasional direction.  Completed tasks are reviewed for accuracy by a work leader or supervisor.  Position has the authority to make decisions or suggestions based on rules or procedures; more difficult decisions are referred to the Area Supervisor or higher levels to be resolved. Position is responsible for direct interaction with customers of the immediate work area and must understand and satisfy their needs through actual assistance and/or providing information from readily available sources. Decisions are short-range and affect only a small group or work unit; occasionally other operations, services, individuals, customers or activities may be affected.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 Work demands include mandatory overtime, tight deadlines, work activities of a seasonal/cyclical nature, call-in on short notice, dealing with complaints. Physical Activities routinely required by the job include sitting, walking (moving about on foot to accomplish tasks), repetitive motions (substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers), standing (particularly for long periods of time) and talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word).  Physical Requirements are sedentary and position may expect to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
