 Job Summary:

The Field Technician performs a variety of field tasks in support infrastructure design for client companies. The Field Tech should have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in civil and/or electrical engineering environments and will rely on standards, instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  He/she will be expected to review, learn and apply industry/company/client policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The Field Technician will:

  • Execute work orders for fielding of infrastructure while meeting quality, time and budget constraints
  • Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and structures in the field
  • Apply relevant standards
  • Collaborate with others, including co-workers and clients, as needed to devise best solutions
  • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager

Requirements:

  • Education or Experience: Associates Degree in Engineering, Design, Survey or related field OR equivalent training in a related field OR equivalent experience in a related field
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to endure frequent: Driving, standing, walking long distances (up to 5 miles or more in a day), navigating rough terrain on foot and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to ~20 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way. 
  • Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as transcribing notes, using measurement devices and identifying, inspecting, and recording facilities and structures
  • Must have dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Must be able to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check
  • Must be computer literate – especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must be willing to travel overnight regularly
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Strong technical knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of construction and planning procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
