Position: Steel Detailer – (Advance Steel, 3D Modeling) Reports to: Detailing Coordinator JOB DESCRIPTIONEssential Functions
- Develop drawings for 3-D structural steel.
- Responsible for developing drawings per project scope and specifications, as well as AISC requirements and Summit's Detailing Standards.
- Responsible for field measuring as required on projects per site conditions and schedules. As well as miscellaneous items throughout our areas of operation.
- Responsible for adhering to Summit's Detailing and Submittal Procedures.
- Responsible for the proper importation of KISS Files into FabSuite on assigned projects.
- Implement and execute BIM model and 3D survey information into Summit's scope of work
- Responsible for notifying Detailing Coordinator of RFI's required, as it relates to the detailing phase of the project. Informing the Detailing Coordinator when RFI's result in a change in scope should necessitate an extra/ change order request.
- Responsible for notifying Detailing Coordinator of modifications and change orders that arise after submittal that are time sensitive and bear a financial impact to scope.
- Responsible for review of drawings (per project scope and specifications as well as AISC requirements and Summit's Detailing Standards) detailed by other drafters as required.
- Troubleshoot issues from the field.
- Carefully document field conditions by means of photographs and written notes.
- Review shop drawings as needed.
- Assist project managers in engineering field installations.

Travel Primarily limited to Northeast job site locationsEducation and Experience Advance Steel HIGHLY preferred.
- Must have professional experience modeling structural steel in 3D.
- Ability to accurately measure miscellaneous steel fabrications. Steel fabrication or erection experience a plus.
- 3 - 10 years’ experience.
- College degree preferred (associate’s or bachelor’s degree)
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to maneuver as needed in an office setting.
