Job Description:

We are looking for Entry-Level (Trainee) Electronics Repair Technicians, as well as Mid-Level (Experienced) Electronics Repair Technicians/ Field Service Technicians, to join our team. These individuals will provide repair service solutions and technical support to customers. The Electronics Repair Technician’s responsibilities include in-house bench repair at Serve Electric, as well as customer-site troubleshooting and repair of customer equipment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities of an Electronics Repair/ Field Service Technician:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish industrial electronic equipment (VFD, PLC, Servo, Instrumentation, Power Supplies, HMIs)
  • Troubleshoot and test electronic components to board level, using various methods and testing equipment
  • Repair and/or replace electronic components to board level, including but not limited to: diodes, transistors, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, other printed circuit components
  • The Electronics Repair Technician will communicate with Repair Services management to keep them informed of job status
  • Evaluate electrical and electro-mechanical equipment and determine correct repair procedures
  • Participate in generation of work instructions and test fixtures for testing
  • Identify potential areas for improvement of internal processes and procedures
  • The Electronics Repair Technician will perform field service visits in a timely manner as required to resolve technical issues experienced by customers

 

The qualified Electronics Repair/ Field Service Technician will have the following skills and experience:

  • Associates degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical experience
  • Familiarity with and ability to utilize different types of test equipment such as function generators, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
  • Ability to solder and desolder using through hole and surface mount technology
  • Ability to recognize various electronic components and their functions
  • Able to work in a progressive repair process, having direct interaction with employees performing other portions of the process
  • Fluency in computer software platforms for communication/configuration of VFDs and PLCs
  • 1-3 years direct experience in electronic device repair or manufacturing (Entry Level candidates will learn)
  • Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes and motor feedback devices
  • The Electronics Repair Technician should be familiar with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience using precision tools and technology including surface mount rework station
  • Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Visual capability to focus on small, intricate parts for extended periods of time
  • An Electronics Repair Technician with experience in machine troubleshooting and repair is preferred
  • Work in manufacturing environments, not just behind a desk
  • Troubleshoot an electrical issue from start to finish without the use of schematics or clear information from the operator or customer
  • Communicate clearly with the customer, service manager, and other team members
  • Work well with other team members
