Job Description

The Training and Development Specialist will collaborate with subject matter experts, management, and business stakeholders to ensure employees within our family of companies receive effective, informative and timely, job-related training to improve their skills and knowledge. The Training and Development Specialist will utilize effective and up-to-date training methodologies to create trainings with instructional activities and materials that effectively incorporate adult learning principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with all levels of the business to recommend, create, implement and track training programs that align with the training and development department and company’s strategic visions
  • Assess training needs through surveys and employee interviews
  • Create and maintain materials for instructor-led trainings and programs, using emerging instructional methods and technologies
  • Facilitate learning and development content and programs for a variety of audiences, from new to tenured employees
  • Create, maintain and facilitate an effective train the trainer, business trainer certification program
  • Provide feedback and coaching to training program participants
  • Travel to monitor and assess training programs facilitated by business trainers to ensure we are maximizing consistency and knowledge retention at all levels of the business
  • Monitor and evaluate existing or created training programs to ensure they are current and effective, make suggestions for updates and implement those changes
  • Create and maintain course evaluations in order to measure training effectiveness
  • Create and maintain the tracking of instructor-led training through our learning management system
  • Communicate to all levels of the business on training and development initiatives and programs
  • Collaborate with other Training & Development team members on new, innovative ways to maximize training effectiveness and implement improvements to our learning management system
  • Assist in developing storyboards and scripts for use in eLearning
  • Assist in creating/revising/maintaining eLearning and eLearning content using Articulate Storyline
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, communications, HR or related field
  • 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with a learning management system, preferably Cornerstone
  • Ability to take complex information and communicate it effectively to any given audience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Strong knowledge and application of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Ability to be an influencer, mentor and subject matter expert on training and development for many levels of the business
  • Very strong communication skills, including written, verbal, facilitation and public speaking
  • Experience with or the desire to learn online learning and design software i.e., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, and/or Adobe Premiere
  • Knowledge on or the desire to learn about graphic design and visual communication in relation to training and adult learning
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints
  • Must be a strategic, creative and critical thinker
  • Strong attention to detail
