Energy Supply Group has an opening for the position of Specialist Electrical Fitter.  This role is mainly responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance, periodic inspection, troubleshooting (fault location), installations, commissioning, testing and repair works on all electrical equipment within the power generation plant.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain diesel engine and gas turbine driven alternators and associated auxiliary systems, motor control centers, electrical drives, rotating machinery and associated operating systems, emergency power supply systems and generators, low voltage DC and control systems
  • Perform LV switchgear testing, installing cables and performing LV termination
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair tasks conducted
  • Troubleshoot and investigate electrical circuits relating to system faults
  • Offer guidance and on-the-job training to apprentices and lower grades

 

Key Job Requirements:

  • Certificate of completion from a recognized apprenticeship programme or equivalent training with recognized electrical manufacturer or utility company
  • Technical  qualification such as BTEC, NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds Part II or equivalent in an appropriate discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years work experience post apprenticeship
  • In-depth knowledge of power plant operations
  • In-depth knowledge of standard industrial electrical practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven skills in providing on-the-job training, assessment and team coaching
  • Ability to interpret and follow equipment “workshop” manuals
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and standards
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to accept responsibility for completing tasks in a safe and economical manner
