American Concrete Co. (ACC), a division of Hamilton Construction Co., is looking for a Shot Blaster Operator.  American Concrete has been in business since 1982 and is reputable, respected and licensed in all Western States.  We supply our crew with an equipment yard, well-maintained equipment, office, a safe work environment, and technical training and support. You will be joining a great group of people who make the work fun.

A Shot blasting Operator requires skills operating roadway equipment including safety awareness, mechanical, production and independent management skills.  An Operator works independently with variety of contractors, environments, and schedules.  Problem solving, customer service and attention to details are critical factors in this position. 

Work is largely outdoors in all weather conditions, generally roadways, this work also involves lifting and manual labor. We work with good customers, both public and private owners.  Work may require weekends and travel, but you will have the opportunity to see a lot of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

 You must have a valid driver license (with a driving record acceptable by the company insurance carrier) and must have or obtain a valid commercial driver license (CDL) within ninety days of hire date to retain employment. Employee will be subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable-suspicion, post-accident, follow up, and return-to-duty drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities:

This position primarily operates shot blasting equipment as part of highway preparation for surface overlays and road surface repairs. Responsibilities include adjusting and setting surface deviation rates and calculating production rates and times.

 You will be responsible for the following: Surface preparation (abrasive blasting, hand/power tool),

  • Operation and maintenance of equipment,
  • Access, containment, systems, & safety equipment.

Compliance with best in industry operating and performance standards Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and complete some work on ladders
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours a day
  • Ability to lift material up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as respirator, gloves, etc.
  • Ability to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipment
  • Ability to adhere to standards and perform a quality job in a safe manner within an acceptable time.
  • Ability to work any shift.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Must have relative applicable experience
  • CDL licensed with airbrake endorsement

However, No specific education level required, just a good attitude and willingness to work.

 The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge of:

  • safe operation, maintenance and repair of equipment;
  • operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand and power tools;
  • preventive maintenance methods such as changing oil, rotating tires, and lubricating parts;
  • on-the-job safety practices as they relate to operating equipment and tools, and handling chemicals such as weed spray, road oils, deicing chemicals;
  • use and application of various construction materials;
  • work zone traffic control procedures;
  • weather conditions and the effect on roadway surfaces;
  • computer applications;
  • Electronic systems to operate various equipment and devices.

Ability to:

  • drive and operate manual transmissions;
  • operate a vehicle while pulling, parking, and backing a trailer in a safe manner;
  • operate and maintain a variety of road construction equipment safely and effectively;
  • use and maintain hand tools, including but not limited to; drills, jackhammers, pressure washers, power drills and saws, impact wrenches, etc. periodically;
  • lift and carry as much as 75 pounds, push and pull heavy objects;
  • sit for extended periods in equipment and walk or stand for extended periods;
  • routinely kneel, bend, stoop and twist to perform work activities; climb on and crawl under equipment;
  • assess changing weather conditions and their effect on the work at hand;
  • work outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • work around hazardous materials, dust, traffic, and noise; and at high elevations over ground and water using personal protective equipment supplied;
  • work extended hours for an extended period of time;
  • be on call and report to work at unusual times of the day or night;
  • communicate sufficiently to understand, follow, and convey instructions;
  • learn and utilize computer applications to complete time forms, receive job information, recommendations, enter job conditions, road conditions, document material/consumables usage, document production rates, calculate footage and weights of materials, and monitor weather forecasts

This is a full time position, offering a highly competitive compensation package; busy summer season offers opportunity to earn overtime

$22-$35+/hr. including Health Insurance, HRA, Employee Assistance and Retirement Plans and minimum guaranteed contribution to 401k.
