Nature of Work
The ITS Service Technician has the technical skills to perform Service and Maintenance for a variety of ITS field devices; including portable message signs, detector stations, cameras, overhead signs, and ramp meter signals. They will also have the skill and knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various types of electrical-mechanical problems. This position will work with contractors to install new ITS field devices and to implement preventative maintenance for all types of ITS field devices. This position will operate out in the field in a van on the roadside. This position reports to the Signal Service Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs ITS response maintenance for ITS field devices; including portable message trailers, overhead message signs, detectors, cameras, ground mount signs, and ramp meter signals
- Installs new ITS detectors, ramp meters, DMS and camera systems.
- Performs ITS preventative maintenance for detectors, ramp meters, DMS and cameras
- Complete all test procedures and maintenance forms accurately and in a timely manner
- Performs other essential duties as assigned by Supervisor
- Follows all traffic safety rules while performing duties
- Follows all company safety rules and 5S procedures

Knowledge/Skill/Ability
* Traffic Safety and working safely on the highway and freeway
* IMSA Work Zone Level 1 training
* Basic Electronics and the safety of working on 120VAC Power Devices
* Basic understanding of DC Relay control.
* Basic understanding of Camera, Coax, Ethernet cable Terminations
* Basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* Clean driving record
* Occasional Overnight travel within Wisconsin
* Pass OCIP OSHA Contractor Safety and Drug Testing
* Self-motivated and able to work independently
* Handle multiple tasks in preventative maintenance
* Cabinet and mechanical maintenance
* Use a ladder to replace lamps and adjust lamps
* Use and operate Bucket truck
* Operate a computer, digital meter, video scope, and Drill
* Terminate Coax BNC/N and Cat5E
* Adapt to and use a variety of equipment
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs
* Follows all safety rules and 5S procedures
Required Experience
- 1 – 2 years of prior hands-on experience in a related field or Service Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree in related field preferred or demonstration of equivalent experience
- CDL a Plus
- Prior experience working in a team-based environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with coworkers, management, and customers

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work out in the field usually in a van on the road side. Safety cones and safe driving are mandatory. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to walk; stoop, kneel, and crouch; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. The employee will have to climb up and down a ladder with little to no assistance. The Employee will have to use a Bucket Truck occasionally. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical machinery and material handling operations and is exposed to humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electric shock. The use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, protective gloves, and hearing protection may be required depending on duties that are performed. The use of steel toed shoes is required in the warehouse and out in the field. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be heavy at times depending on field location. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 5:00; however, at times the workload may not require full time or may require overtime Monday through Saturday as travel locations require. Some flexibility of schedule will be necessary in order to accommodate customer’s needs.
