Summary of Responsibilities
The primary focus of the Vice President of Global Sales is to develop and deploy a robust sales process to accelerate profitable revenue growth. This position will develop and drive year over year organic sales growth, and the execution of commercial strategies in alignment with the company’s core business strategies. The role will be responsible for building sales capabilities, through team and process enhancements, while working closely with Engineering, Market Managers and other departments to shape sales & business strategies. The position reports directly to the CEO.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The Vice President of Global Sales will plan, direct and implement sales activities that accomplish the company’s global objectives and defined sales goals. The position will have active in-person contact with key existing and new potential Customers. The Vice President will also:
- Lead global sales planning to include analysis of competitive products and/or services, selling techniques, sales budgets, quotas, pricing, and distribution
- Establish processes and implement metrics to measure and drive performance of the sales team to meet annual plans for growth and profitability, including deployment of a compensation plan to drive the right behaviors
- Build a company-wide sales process from developing Customer strategy through negotiations & implementation
- Lead activities to ensure Customer projects are identified and build adequate Pipeline to support organic growth targets
- Ensure discipline and rigor across the organization in sales methodology and activity through training, hiring, and accountability
- Lead and leverage the Customer Service organization to support both our Customers and the commercial organization
- Ensure regular communication of corporate priorities and ensure execution of sales and channel strategies to ensure alignment with corporate strategies
The Vice President of Global Sales will build / develop high performing sales teams including both direct and indirect sales channels focused on Customer, market and business needs. The role will oversee / direct customer service and relationship management strategies, and:
- Drive sales activities related to pipeline development, new product launches, value pricing execution, processes and practices, and specific value propositions for targeted solutions
- Recommend product and/or service modifications or improvements based on findings of market research, knowledge gained from Customers or feedback from the sales team
- Identify Marketing activities to support the Sales process, increase lead generation, and effectively present value propositions to our Customers
- Monitor performance against revenue and budget objectives
- Demonstrate support of the company’s core values
- Perform other job duties as assigned to meet business needs
Essential Supervisory Responsibilities
The Vice President will directly and indirectly supervise employees in global Sales, and Customer Service. The role will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, developing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Experience and Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, marketing or related field. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of global sales and Customer service with experience selling technical products to OEM accounts. In addition,
- Seven plus years of progressive sales management/leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of results managing a global field sales team
- Expertise formulating, implementing and evaluating growth-oriented sales plans, structures and processes with quantifiable results, with a strong record on positive profitability impact and value selling / pricing
- Ability to build and develop the necessary team to execute an OEM focused sales process to achieve growth objectives
- Expertise at identifying Customer needs and delivering value added solutions with premium pricing
- Strategic planning skills as well as strengths in tactical implementation and project management
- Demonstrated Acquisition Integration experience
- Demonstrated track record of achieving results, driving change and continuous improvement
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Ability to travel up to 40% of time. The position will require both international and domestic travel. Position will be located in Minneapolis, MN.
Preferred Qualifications
- An MBA or related advanced degree
- Industry related experience including Medical/Pharma, Water/Bev, General Industrial and/or Transportation OEM component sales and marketing experience
- International experience managing both direct and indirect sales channels
- Plastics and/or elastomers knowledge and sales experience, a plus
