What You'll Do

As the GIS IT Technician you will join a team of GIS professionals supporting an enterprise GIS capability.  This position is responsible for maintaining GIS and related data and developing web mapping applications using Esri Enterprise GIS. The GIS IT Technician maintains and expands all resources including data software and hardware so that users can efficiently and effectively use their GIS-based applications.The The GIS IT Technician assists in the management of geodatabases; develops and enforces digital data standards and practices to promote a GIS resource that can be confidently incorporated into other enterprise-wide applications.  In addition, they will be responsible for data acquisition, map service publishing and metadata standard generation.  

  • Collaborate with data providers to obtain, manage and disseminate data using map services 
  • Assist in the architecture, installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise GIS components including ArcGIS Enterprise 
  • Serve as the geospatial content manager for an enterprise GIS portal
  • Serve as product specialists for geospatial commercial software and in house developed services and products.
  • Stay abreast with latest developments in GIS and associated technologies

Qualifications and Technical Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of geospatial techniques, analysis, and data structure 
  • Experience in installation, configuration and administration of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Experience with scripting languages, desired
  • Technical organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage staff time and workload effectively which includes setting priorities and meeting schedules
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence, a plus
