What You'll Do

The GIS Technical Task Lead - Esri Enterprise is expected to manage a team responsible for the delivery of geospatially focused web services and products using the Esri Enterprise Suite of tools.   The successful candidate will be able to lead and manage a highly technical team and must have a strong technical background in order to coach, support and lead the team in order to deliver solutions.  The candidate must be take a balanced view on delivery of solutions between architecture, time, cost and quality and be able to communicate effectively to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to, influence and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for their area of product responsibility, making decisions on technologies
  • Build quality directly into the engineering processes and solutions by championing automated testing and test driven development
  • Influence and execute on engineering processes that deliver predictable quality, including code reviews.
  • Set and monitor objectives for the team.
  • Collaborate with the program manager to build a high performing team, grow and mentor the technical skills within the team and create development opportunities for them.

Qualifications and Technical Knowledge

  • Experience in working with geospatial software, Esri products required
  • Thorough understanding of geospatial techniques, analysis, and data structure 
  • Ability to create solutions to meet given performance requirements by performing traditional systems engineering functions such as high level system design. 
  • Ability to spec system components and performance.  
  • Ability to spec out system interface requirements.
  • Control and monitor project efforts by team.
  • Must have excellent technical and communication skills. 
  • At least 10 years of experience with the design and implementation of complex systems.
  • Good documentation skills centered on tasks, design, and system engineering needed to document systems, objectives, requirements and technical direction.
  • Ability to manage a team to deadlines and assess risk to schedule and technology. 
  • Knowledge of NSA Security policies as they pertain to IT systems is necessary.
  • 5 years of systems engineering systems development and security engineering experience. 
  • Project planning and control skills are a requirement. 
  • Must be able to assess statements of work and ensure that staff is deployed and structured to meet SOW requirements
  • Must be able to communicate with Program Manager on a regular basis and in advance of issues to mitigate program performance risk.
