Currently, Traine Construction & Development has an opportunity for a national safety coordinator to join our head office team in Kelowna.

For this role, you will support our teams, across Canada with all aspects of our safety program. Our projects are currently focused in B.C. and Ontario. Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure completion of documentation such as FLHAs, orientation records, accident/injury reporting and track completion of corrective actions
  • Responsible for documenting all site activities and provide weekly reports
  • Responsible for full cycle production of safe work procedures and practices
  • Conduct incident investigations and site inspections and track completion of corrective action
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation
  • Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis and safe work procedures; follow-up scheduling and documentation of any resultant actions
  • Responsible for coordinating quarterly site safety audits with third party safety consultants
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program
  • Coordinate return to work plans under the direction of the human resources lead
  • Communicate head office safety initiatives to site
  • Schedule and host safety meetings; contribute to safety initiatives; participate in health and safety committee meetings
  • Arrange training
  • Provide safety guidance to field personnel and provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of safety issues

To set yourself up for success in this role, you will already have:

  • NCSO
  • Advanced (OFA3) first aid an asset
  • Minimum five-years' experience in a safety role  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
  • Advanced skills in achieving ‘buy in’
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficient with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work alone effectively and prioritize
  • Must be a highly motivated and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites
  • Construction industry experience an asset
  • Willing to travel - visiting sites across Canada
