JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Chief Financial Officer is a key leadership position within Maxair Mechanical. The position reports to the President of MAXAIR, with a functional reporting line to the Chief Financial Officer of Service Logic.  The position is responsible for the financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, HR and IT at MAXAIR.  In addition, the Chief Financial Officer functions as a key resource of the President to ensure that overall strategic and operational objectives are met.  The position has direct responsibilities for all functions listed below for MAXAIR.   

Essential Functions

  1. Member of senior management team which has overall responsibility for the continued growth and profitability of the business
  2. Support the business President with detailed analysis and insight of current operations, budgets, profit, growth initiative and acquisitions
  3. Responsible for designing and maintaining a system of internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and stewardship of company assets
  4. Full responsibility for monthly closing and reporting process which includes internal reporting and reporting to support the consolidation of Service Logic financials.
  5. Responsible for annual business planning process, semiannual profit forecasts, and other ad hoc projects
  6. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statutory filings (payroll taxes, unemployment benefits (FUTA/SUTA), W2, 1099, 1095) for all states under jurisdiction.
  7. Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with union requirements and administration of the company’s collective bargaining agreements. 
  8. Cash management and forecasting.
  9. Work closely with the Service Logic Corporate Controller to extract necessary data from the ERP and CRM systems
  10. Manage the annual financial statement audit and audits of trade unions, 401(k) and insurance; including non-discriminatory testing.
  11. Administer company corporate credit card program.
  12. Provide benefits administration for non-bargaining employees.
  13. Oversee IT Infrastructure and compliance.
  14. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility
The CFO will lead, coach and mentor a diverse group of professional and clerical personnel with ten direct and indirect reports, some of which include accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll personnel. 

 

Work Environment
This job operates in an administrative office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

 

Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position, with hours of work being 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  This position reports to the MAXAIR office in Marietta, GA.

 

Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position. There may be occasions to travel to North Carolina for a night or two.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. BA/BS in accounting.
  2. Ten years of experience with clear progression to positions of increased responsibility.
  3. CPA designation.
  4. Supervisory experience.
  5. GL accounting experience.
  6. Large/Mid-Sized ERP program experience. Currently utilizing Sage 300/Timberline, Sales Force, Adaptive, Power BI, Microsoft Office.
  7. Percentage of completion of accounting experience.
  8. Some experience with treasury.
  9. Service or Manufacturing business experience that has monthly close responsibilities.
  10. Financial planning and analysis experience for financial results, profit improvement projects or growth projects.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
  2. National accounting firm experience highly recommended.
