Job Summary
Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of lighting engineering project.
The Lighting Controls Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Work with Lighting Specialist to complete specifications.
- Collaborate with the engineering team and project support staff, as well as architects, clients, and contractors.
- Research and present design options, as well as collect data to support design decisions.
- Create submittal packages to confirm system design.
- Work with Lighting Specialist to manage project controls from order to completion.
- Troubleshooting of installed systems and basic field service.
- Assist in design of control diagrams.
- Serve as a technical resource to internal Team Sequoyah as well as external customer base.
- Obtain and interpret technical documents.
- Travel to job-sites to gather information pre-bid, as well as equipment to start up and commissioning post bid.
- Communicate with customers in the form of meetings and presentations to understand and define their needs, provide project status, and respond to requests or concerns – both verbal and written.
- Develop and submit a sequence of operations for lighting control systems.
- Work with field staff to address troubleshooting on-site.
- Have an understanding and be able to discuss lighting and lighting control code information.
- Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge on manufacturers’ products and product application.
- Review detailed vendor information and submittals.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relations with lighting suppliers and representatives.
- Manage several projects at one time.
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical industry performing lighting controls design and calculations.
- Able to interpret construction documents, electrical drawings, specifications, and light fixture cut sheets.
- Skilled in project management, task management, and problem solving.
- Strong knowledge and familiarity of lighting codes, building energy codes, and the NEC.
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk REVIT, Bluebeam, AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of Lutron, nLight/Acuity, Wattstopper, Crestron systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Knowledge of electrical lighting systems within buildings, power supplies, sensors.
