Exploration Manager - Nevada

McEwen Mining is a diversified gold and silver producer with operating mines in Nevada, Canada, Mexico and Argentina. It also owns a large copper deposit in Argentina. McEwen’s goal is to qualify for inclusion in the S&P 500 Index by creating a profitable gold and silver producer focused in the Americas.

McEwen Mining is currently seeking an Exploration Manager for its Nevada operations. Reporting to the Senior VP Exploration, along with the General Manager, Nevada Operations, the Exploration Manager will be an experienced and motivated individual.

The primary responsibility of this role will be to plan and direct the company’s exploration activities in Nevada. The immediate priority is to manage the Gold Bar property exploration where our efforts are currently focused. McEwen owns various properties in Nevada ranging from early-to-advanced stage projects, near-mine to district scale exploration. Part of the role responsibilities include the evaluation of potential acquisition opportunities.

The position will ideally be based in our Elko office.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and direct the company’s exploration activities in Nevada with immediate focus at the Gold Bar site
• Manage exploration work on the company’s pipeline of projects, ranging from early to advanced stage prospects
• Work closely with and provide support to mine management at Gold Bar to expand resources and reserves
• Manage and oversee Nevada’s exploration project portfolio, including projects operate by the company, as well as joint-venture and farm-out option properties
• Identify and pursue new exploration opportunities, including acquisitions, greenfields and brownfields - stage projects
• Review, select and oversee drill contractors and consultants (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, other)
• Oversee and manage a team of professionals in Nevada
• Work closely with the Chief Geologist to explore and evaluate existing projects and new opportunities, and monitor geologic work at project locations
• Coordination of reports, budgets and cost analyses
• Training and mentoring team members to develop their skills

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years experience in mineral exploration, largely in Nevada
• MSc in Geology, preferred
• Extensive experience in precious metals exploration
• Track record managing major exploration programs and delivering meaningful results
• Well-developed management skills with people and tasks
• Solid geologic reasoning abilities, integrating geology, geochemistry and geophysics data sets
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Standard computer skills
• Experience with GIS and 3-D modelling software a plus
• Drilling, exploration budget management & logistic experience (invoice review, contracts, budgeting, cost tracking and optimization)
