Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for managing the accounting and finance functions on assigned projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) on assigned projects.
  • Participate in internal control structure by questioning potential fraudulent, inappropriate, or inaccurate transactions.
  • Initiate and lead the monthly project Owner billing process by gathering relevant cost information and coordinating related tasks with other project team members.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to review and approve assigned project subcontractor pay applications for payment.
  • Review and approve accounts payable invoices that are included in project cost for assigned projects.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with subcontractors to reconcile pay application status with respect to original contracts, change orders, and pending change orders.
  • Manage contractual risks through synchronization of documents (i.e. certificates of insurance, lien waivers.)
  • Oversee project closeout reconciliation process.
  • Build cohesive working relationships with all individuals on assigned project teams.
  • Requires top-notch organizational skills that allows for accurate and timely response to owner and architect requests for information.
  • Analyze monthly project accounting metrics to explain the status of project financial position
  • Develop and promote standardized best practices with other Project Accountants in the KA Project Accounting Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or related field or 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information on one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others

 

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of accounting software; internet applications and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of construction software
