Field Operations Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prioritize area trim schedule each year based on knowledge of district. Must consider factors such as re-growth rates, frequent outages, circuit changes. Should be familiar with areas and requires pre-inspection of circuit.
  • Monitor and direct work flow of tree crews with scheduled circuit work
  • Audit trimming work on completed circuits within 30 days of completion and consult Trimming Contractor General Foreman about plan to remedy audit issues
  • Conduct mid-cycle circuit inspections (Patrols) ½ of circuit miles from 4 and/or 6-year schedule. Divided into 2 bi-annual schedules
  • Conduct monthly tree crew field safety audits of each crew under supervised area district operations.
  • Participate in Storm Response Plan when activated. Includes field direction of tree crews or UFs. It may include presence in the Evergy central dispatch facility until released by Evergy Dispatch Supervisor. Participate in 2-week rotation of after-hours and weekend on-call duty for directing tree crews from dispatch requests
  • Conduct Circuit Outage Investigations as assigned by Client. Prepare report of findings to be returned to utility
  • Complete all required reporting in a timely fashion, including labor and annual plan progress reports, audit score reporting, safety audit scoring, and others as directed
  • Review tree crew timesheets every week and make corrections as needed. Consult Trimming Contractor General Foreman about mistakes and corrections
  • Actively participate in Client meetings, including presentation on overall district progress
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and Trimming Contractors General Foreman in a timely fashion as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-year experience in utility vegetation management is preferred
  • Supervisory experience is highly desired
  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Forestry, Environmental Science or related field preferred
  • Must have solid tree identification skills
  • Must be familiar with GIS mapping programs
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and an attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills highly desired.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Certified ISA Arborist preferred.
  • Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus. 

Physical 

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties; carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (5 to 20 lbs).
