 An exciting opportunity exists for a Machinist Apprentice to join our Speciality Products business at the Tacoma Machine Shop.  The Machinist Apprentice will train alongside Journey Machinists to develop skills and participate in an educational Apprenticeship. This will include:

  • Assist Journey Machinists in tasks to acquire the knowledge and skills to operate various types of machining equipment including small and large conventional as well as CNC vertical lathes and horizontal boring machines
  • Under the mentorship of a Journey Machinist, run & operate machines with acute attention to detail
  • Perform preventative maintenance necessary for the Machine Tool

A qualified candidate will have the following qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prefer previous apprenticeship or education in machining
  • Previous machine shop experience is preferred
  • Must be willing to enroll and complete the education requirements for the Machinist Apprenticeship at a Technical College and through the AJAC or similar program while working
  • Blueprint reading and layout knowledge is desireable
  • Strong mathematical skills required
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
