Job Summary:
The Resident Engineer will be responsible for being the Lead Engineer/ Architect for construction support services and overseeing the schedule, budgeting and adhering to the contracted scope for multiple concurrent construction projects.
Resident Engineer Responsibilities:
• Monitor the contractor’s adherence to plans, specifications and approved shop drawings
• Ensure that construction methods are properly coordinated with Facility operations and are performed safely
• Administer construction contracts
• Investigate construction problems and make recommendations on the need for extra work
• Facilitate office correspondence
• Evaluate contractors’ work
• Verify progress for payment applications
• Review daily inspection reports and construction CPM Schedules
• Negotiate change orders
• Assist in meetings, advise and represent the client (owner) during his/her absence
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Structural Engineering is a must
• Registration as P.E. and/or R.A. is preferred
• At least 15 years of experience in progressively more difficult and responsible construction management and inspection
• Construction experience must include:
o Rail road construction
o Concrete and reinforcing placement
o Electrical
o Civil
o Mechanical
o Structural steel
o Asphalt paving
o Drainage
o Building construction
o Preparation of estimates
• Strong presentation, oral and writing communication skills are required
• Training in fall protection, scaffolding, and ladders is required
• Work-zone safety
• Minimum of OSHA 10 construction safety
• Valid driver’s license
