Atlantic Contracting & Specialties is currently seeking a Coating Division Superintendent. This position requires a highly motivated sales professional, problem solver and detail-oriented professional with the ability to communicate effectively, lead negotiations, and create trusting relationships with both internal and external clients.

Base location: Albany NY

Area or Region supported: New York State

Main industries supported: Industrial applications for abatement, remediation, firestop systems, industrial and commercial coatings, mechanical insulation, noise control, scaffolding.

The following are some of the essential duties of a successful Superintendent:

  • Our goal in all territories is to be a preferred contractor for all industrial and commercial customers in the market. Our Coating Superintendents are instrumental in growing those relationships through networking, referrals, seeking out new technologies or opportunities for us to grow and support more customers. Examples are industrial or commercial coatings, insulation, mechanical contractors, and similar
  • Safety is a core value for all Irex Contracting Companies and our team members are an essential part of our safety programs.
  • Prepare Foreman’s instructions for each project. This should include a work order, specifications, drawings, HAZCOM program including MSDS sheets, site specific safety and drug testing requirements, material requirements, names and telephone numbers of customer contacts.
  • Maintain weekly progress schedules and insure their timely submission to the customers.
  • Prepare material purchase orders.
  • Assist in the formulation of profit recognition and job control percentages.
  • Have full awareness of the scope, specifications and schedule on each assigned project.
  • Initiate and direct the pre-job planning process.
  • Insure that the project QA/QC program is being followed.
  • A full job description will be given to candidates at the time of their interview.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ construction or subcontracting sales experience
  • Product knowledge of Surface Preparation Techniques – All Industry Standards, Coatings
  • Ability to travel 80 percent locally
  • Valid Driver’s license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, finance, business administration or a related field preferred
  • Ten years of experience in industrial or commercial coatings
  • SSPC, NACE 1 Designation
  • Exhibit a spirit of cooperation & teamwork
  • Enthusiasm and strong work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
