Job Summary
The Hybrid Teaching Assistant monitors all online classes for which students at that campus are enrolled to ensure participation by ground students. The Hybrid Teaching Assistant monitors instructor and students interactions and ensures follow up by instructor of student when necessary. He/she monitors student engagement/participation in discussion boards and reviews student success indicators in the online classes (i.e. attendance and grades). The Hybrid Teaching Assistant follows up with online faculty managers if engagement from instructors is not occurring. He/she is responsible for proactive outreach to all students taking online courses to ensure positive progress in classes and for holding open lab sessions where students taking online classes can receive assistance on campus.
Key Responsibilities
I. Monitors processes for ground students engaged in online learning
- Assists in the recruitment of continuing ground students to take online
- Assists in the registration of ground students who engage in online
- Assists in the withdrawal process from online courses of ground students who engage in online
- Ensures every ground student who engages in online learning satisfactorily completes the online student orientation prior to starting his/her first online
- Provides proactive outreach to all students taking online courses to ensure positive progress in classes and assignments are
II. Supports ground students who engage in online learning
- Provides and/or arranges academic support for students, at their request, who engage in online
- Provides and/or arranges academic support for students who engage in online learning when academic performance or attendance history indicates assistance is
- Provides and/or arranges technical support for students engaged in online
- Provides online learning platform technical support for students who engage in online
- Holds weekly open lab sessions for students taking online courses to receive help on anything from coursework to Moodle assistance.
III. Serves as a campus contact for online learning
- In conjunction with other appointed staff, if applicable, serves as the point of contact at the home institution for questions/advice regarding distance education and/or use of the learning management
- Assist with the resolution of any issues arising between students and online
- Provides mediation between host institution and home institution
- Monitors student attendance, retention, and academic progress utilizing available
- Provides academic advising for continuing and new students interested in distance
- Documents communication with students, faculty, and administration regarding attendance and academic
IV. Participates in campus retention activities and manages online course retention for ground students taking online courses
- Participates in campus retention activities including LDA meetings to provide information related to ground students taking online
- Meets with Campus Director and/or Director of Education weekly to review students taking online courses and posts weekly meeting information as
- In conjunction with the Student Resource Coordinator, if applicable, manages student at-risk activities for ground student engagement in online
- Monitors all retention/at-risk activities for students who engage in online
V. Ensures campus maintains distance education compliance
- In conjunction with the other appointed staff, if applicable, gathers, analyzes, and reports data related to ground student participation and progress as required by the campus Director of Education, ACICS, Campus Effectiveness Plan, and Campus Resource Center
- Communicates processes and ensures campus compliance with administrative processes and
- Assists in preparation of distance education regulatory/compliance
- Manages campus 49% distance learning rule activities/reports.
VI. Completes required training and participates in required meetings/trainings
- Successfully completes required
- Continues to participate in meetings and trainings required of Online Teaching

Experience Required:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching experience or academic or student services administrative experience
- Experienced with online delivery platforms as an instructor or student
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Education or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication, project management, conceptual and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to deconstruct academic process and to map work flow
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
