A Safety Manager position in Virginia is available at Garney Construction. To be considered for this position you must have five years experience in a supervisory safety role.

Safety Manager job responsibilities include:

  • Manage regional safety for Garney employee-owners and subcontractors
  • Review, implement and provide assistance on safety regulations and standards to project management and field personnel
  • Develop and conduct safety training for job site personnel and management
  • Conduct safety inspections to identify, document and correct safety hazard
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations and reporting including state and federal regulatory management
  • Complete post-accident correction and follow-up
  • Support administration of drug-free workplace program
  • Communication with corporate safety councils and other regional safety managers
  • Participate in Risk Evaluation Meetings used to identify high risk work activities and hazard analysis/mitigation.
  • Maintain safety and health professional certifications and current training necessary to be abreast of trends, legislation, and best practices.
  • Assist operations with continuous improvements and compliance, making recommendations for improvements and providing risk assessments to managers and leaders of business operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates for this position must possess a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction engineering, construction management or a safety-related degree. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain their CSP. Candidate must be bilingual – English / Spanish.

Air and car travel will be required. Exposure to physical operations ranging from office environments to construction project sites. Must be able to adapt to a flexible schedule, to support operational needs and to respond to urgent matters. Candidates must be able to travel and/or relocate. Travel region includes but is not limited to Virginia, DC, North Carolina and South Carolina.
