We are currently seeking an Electrical Drafter for our Power Engineering & System Planning group in our Phoenix, AZ area office.
The candidate will work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to provide construction ready design packages which includes all physical, electrical and protection & control information necessary for the construction of medium and high voltage substations and renewable energy projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Participate actively with multidisciplinary teams in the design of medium and high voltage indoor/outdoor electric substations, and transmission and distribution lines
- Create CAD drawings from sketches for medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) both indoor/outdoor electric substations and transmission and distribution lines
- Work with engineers to prepare or refine layout drawings, plans, section views and protection & control drawings
- Revise drawings received from the client and project team member per engineer markups
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to prepare engineering packages
- Understand and adhere to all applicable drafting standards, and verify completeness of design drawings
- Understand and follow all requirements for revision progression and quality gates
- Perform other duties as required
Required Education & Experience:
- Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program
- One (1) or more years of drafting experience preferably in a design team environment
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Knowledge of substation terminology and symbolism a plus but not required
- Self-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques and increase job related knowledge to further career
- Perform drafting tasks at a rate set by management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Works effectively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings a plus
