Alleyton Resource is seeking a qualified Plant Maintenance Technician. This position will reside in the North, West, and Southside of Houston.

 

Job purpose

 

The position of Plant Maintenance Technician will be instrumental in helping repair and maintain all stationary equipment including, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, augers, hoppers, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, pumps etc. on ready-mix and pug mill plants. This position will also require some mechanical work on rolling equipment i.e. front-end loaders and skid steers. All while maintaining a safety first attitude. Adhere with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ etc.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Will troubleshoot, perform repairs, rebuilds and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Will aid in identifying the root cause in failures and report to supervisor.
  • Dismantle and reassembles equipment, using hoist, fork lifts, cranes and hand tools.  
  • Examines parts for damage and excessive wear and report issues to supervisor.
  • Replaces defective parts effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • Perform basic cutting and welding jobs.
  • Tests equipment when done with work to ensure operating correctly.
  • Servicing equipment as necessary.
  • Inventory and maintain assigned truck and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. A basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, cutting/welding, mechanicals and other ready- mix related components. CDL is preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software. Use of smart phones in opening up files while working remotely.

Welding Skills: Experience with MIG and stick welding a plus, but not required.

Mechanical experience:  Experience with heavy machinery is also preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions

 

Consists working on-site at plants in the outdoors and in workshops. On site work consists of activities which include navigating heights, machinery and exposure to elements such as dust, changes in temperature and weather. Required safety equipment will be issued and policies and procedures focused on safety will apply.

 

Physical/Mental Requirements

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Will require working with heights on equipment and in man baskets. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Effective conflict resolution abilities. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics. Must be self-motivated with ability to complete multiple projects a day while doing quality work.

 

Other Requirements

 

Overtime will be required, along with working one Saturday a month. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and must meet Summit Materials MVR requirements. Work in all weather conditions within reason keeping safety of one’s self and team in mind.
