Position Summary

Partners with Project Teams during the preconstruction phase of Design/Build and CMr projects and brings a consistent approach to a quality set of preconstruction services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead KACC’s efforts in improving the efficiency and consistency during the design phase of projects – particularly when an effort is within a Design-Build delivery model. Provide measurable value by supporting the efforts of all project delivery models that engage KACC during the design phase.
  • Provide KACC Operations teams with expertise related to quality management of design phase services allowing Operations teams to maintain our Single-Point-of-Contact client relationship model.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal partners and external design partners and serve as a conduit of information to the rest of the project team to ensure exceptional delivery of a project to the Owner’s expectations.
  • Establish best practices, controls, and billable services related to the design phase of projects.
  • Lead, facilitate and present at interviews, meetings, industry events, etc.
  • Lead, manage, coordinate design team schedule, coordination between disciplines and completeness of documents relative to given design phase.
  • Maintain proactive, relevant industry knowledge to position KACC as an industry leading Design-Build Contractor, as well as enhance existing offerings from the pre-construction services group.
  • Lead continuing education strategies with internal resources to ensure KACC is staying up to date on industry trends and build those resources’ awareness, literacy and skills across the design-build spectrum.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At least a Bachelor degree in relevant field required.
  • AIA designation preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience, preferably within a CM/GC or A/E firm.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook, estimating software, cost history software, CAD/Autodesk tools, sketch-up, Navisworks)
  • Ability to identify project specific design phase needs related VDC/BIM applications and work with internal and external resources for appropriate deployment on a project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, building and maintaining a positive team environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results
  • Ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside the organization who can provide information, assistance and support
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Travel as required for project needs.

  • Frequently sits, stands and talks.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must work and climb on a jobsite to review or inspect work progress.
  • Ability to maneuver on ladders and scaffolding, walk through sand or mud, climb on and around vehicles and construction equipment
