Position Summary

We are looking for an Asphalt Field Technician to work in our Quality Control department in the Twin Cities metro area.  We are looking for an individual that is reliable, alert and safety-conscious. This position is responsible for safely, accurately and efficiently obtaining construction material samples and then test the materials and report data to the QC supervisor.  This position requires the responsible and safe use of departmental testing equipment.  The role is very lab-oriented with focus on proper procedures and specifications. 

Job Duties

  • Perform construction material testing accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare and report material testing data to QC Supervisor.
  • Input testing data timely and accurately into excel spreadsheets.
  • Execute and implement QC actions as directed and maintain documents.
  • Safely obtain hot mix asphalt samples on project sites.
  • Ability to operate a bituminous core drill rig to obtain core samples for analysis.
  • Obtain and maintain MnDOT testing certifications.
  • Accurate and concise communication with supervisors, plant operators, superintendents and foremen.
  • Develop, promote and maintain professional relationships with QA agencies, inspectors and colleagues.

Preferred Education/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Strong math skills
  • Computer skills

  • Construction Materials Testing experience a plus
  • Ability to lift 50-70 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
  • Driver’s license must be currently active and have a clean driving record
  • Willing to learn and be trained
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions

Other Requirements:

All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test.  References will also be checked.
