POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees the operations of the dining rooms, including the supervision and assistance of dining services Team Members. Maintains a customer focused attitude at all times, while managing traffic flow and balancing the serving responsibilities among the food servers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains visibility during meal times by seating and greeting residents, address any concerns, and ensure that their needs have been met.
  • Responds to and resolves any resident or guest complaints regarding their experience in the dining room.
  • Schedules and assigns tasks to wait staff, including assigning of tables and side and closing duties.
  • Directs and monitors wait staff, including, uniform and personal appearance, customer service, and proper food handling techniques.
  • Trains wait staff on all operating procedures and menu education.
  • Ensures floor charts and tables are set up correctly.
  • Assist servers as needed by performing such tasks as pouring coffee and water.
  • Checks menus for accuracy.
  • Processes guest meal charges.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new Dining Room staff.
  • Practices all safety and loss prevention procedures.
  • Maintains or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, personal sanitation and hygiene.
  • Attend all in-services as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides supervision to wait staff and others as assigned to assure delivery of consistently high-quality service to residents. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in fine dining
  • Obtain a TFER (Texas Food Establishment Rules) food handler certification within 60 days upon hire

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Language Ability:
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally speaking the primary language of the residents.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Cognitive Demands:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.

 ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Works primarily indoors. Exposure to high heat and cold temperatures.
  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors
  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual
  • Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational

While performing the duties of this Job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
