Findorff has an opening for and experienced Project Engineer in our Madison Office. This position will start in one of four areas: Estimating, Field Operation, Safety or Project Management. Findorff’s program is designed to ensure each Project Engineer is exposed to many areas of construction, with the plan they will be well-rounded as they enter one of three career paths: Preconstruction/Estimating, Superintendent, or Project Manager.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or similar program, and an internship, co-op or two to three years working knowledge of project management, field engineering or estimating is required. Qualified candidates will have strong communication and organizational skills, and be a contributing team player. A strong mathematical aptitude and strong analytical and computer skills also necessary. Experience with any of the following software is a plus, CMiC, OnCenter, Timberline, PlanGrid, Revit and/or Bluebeam.
As a Project Engineer at Findorff. Some of the things you'll experience in your three areas are:
Estimating/Preconstruction
- Take off and pricing
- Bid package preparation
- Prepare Instructions to Bidders
- Conduct bid result evaluations
- Contract prospective bidders utilizing bidding software or telephone
- Assist estimator with bid day activities
- Participate in project planning
- Conduct constructability & spec reviews
Project Management
- Prepare subcontracts, purchase orders, change order proposals, monthly payment requests for review by Project Management staff
- Prepare, distribute and track RFI’s
- Distribute and track CB’s, RFP’s or other change issue documentation
- Close out activities including but not limited to distribution and tracking punch lists
- Assist Project Management staff or Superintendent with creating and/or updating project schedule
- Prepare and distribute progress meeting notes
- Review shop drawings and samples for conformance to documents
- Proactively manage project submittal approval process
- Post addenda or other changes to plans and specifications
Field Operations
- Assist jobsite Superintendent with short duration scheduling, timekeeping, etc.
- Order and schedule delivery of materials
- Participate in productivity initiative (track finished work to schedule/goal).
- Post addenda or other changes to plans and specifications
- Prepare, distribute and track RFI’s
- Distribute and track punch lists
- Complete other close out requirements
Safety
- Routine safety audits
- Assist with safety planning for jobsites
- See projects from the safety supervisor point of view
- Attend OSHA training
