The On Site Linen Manager is responsible for overall management of the Linen and Uniform Department functions and personnel on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis. Responsibilities include inventory management, purchasing, ordering, and quality control for all departments using linen, uniforms and supplies throughout the hospital. This is an entry level position.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure a soil return of linen equivalent to the established soil factor through daily inventory management and sufficient soil returns.
• Maintain continued supervisory control over all hospital linen activities and personnel to assure that basic functions and operations are accomplished in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures
• Monitor compliance to program elements and supplement education when needed
• Assist in maximizing linen flow through the facility and reducing losses
• Maintain linen inventory levels in the linen room and at each department through the management of appropriate par levels
• Monitor and manage scrub dispensing equipment
• Assure necessary linens are supplied, preventing disruption of hospital’s normal routine
• Train and orient new employees as necessary
• Establish specific standards of performance and work assignments for linen department employees and periodically provide performance feedback
• Counsel and discipline employees when necessary
• Coordinate and maintain work schedules for linen employees
• Ensure that employees conform to all departmental and hospital rules, policies and procedures
• Troubleshoot all routine problems and inquiries relative to linen department’s functions and operations
• Maintain accurate records of all linens delivered and sends information to necessary areas to evaluate usage and control costs
Additional Responsibilities:
• Occasionally oversee operations and personnel of affiliated facilities
• Inform the Regional Sales Manager and GM of all service activities via a weekly Service report
• Completion of all required paperwork and distributed of the same to all parties as required including Linen Utilization reports, FDR Linen Resource reports, Payroll reports and Service reports
• The creation and management of a continuous education and awareness program relevant to product application, inventory control and loss/abuse
• To act as the liaison between department heads and FDR and to represent FDR onsite at all meetings including the Monthly Linen Committee
• Facilitate daily communication between customer and FDR Services including daily order requirements and soiled linen return
• Responsible for management of all clean and soil weights, ensure soil returns are within Established Soil Factor range and that billing information is processed timely
• Create and promote loss prevention at customer, measure and communicate any losses, and ensure any approved charges are billed to customer
• Responsible to ensure account is in line with their payment terms
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position manages Linen Distribution Associates. The Linen Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees.
Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Inventory control experience
• Able to work effectively with hospital staff in providing services
• Experience in general coordination of departmental activities
Work Environment:
This job takes place within the Linen Room and throughout the hospital. The working environment is indoors and is seasonally heated and cooled with minimal noise levels. The position requires considerable standing, walking and the ability to move linen carts and bundles of up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to communicate in person, telephonically and via email.
