Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) is pleased to invite applications for the following open position:

Specialist Electrical Fitter.

The Specialist Electrical Fitter is mainly responsible for erecting and maintaining switchgear and other substation equipment, in particular switchgear up to 34.5kV. Carries out and performs installation, commissioning, testing and repair work on any item of transmission and distribution equipment as well as preventive maintenance, periodic inspection and troubleshooting (fault location).

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsibilities include performing LV switchgear testing, installing cables
  • Leading and guiding a team by allocating work to craftspeople
  • Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair tasks conducted
  • Guiding on-the-job training to those of lower grade including apprentice training

 

Key Job Requirements

  • High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • Technical Qualification such as BTEC, NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds (Part II), ONC or the equivalent in an appropriate discipline
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer applications relevant to the job
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make technical decisions in order to rectify problems
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals from more than one country and standard
