Summary
Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Skilled Laborer to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina to work on our Kiawah Project. This position performs a variety of tasks to maintain the productivity of the job site. The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing structure. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
Essential Functions
The Skilled Laborer activities are coordinated with the Carpenter Foreman, Project Manager and/or the Superintendent to maintain the productivity of the job site. Assists Superintendent in coordinating subcontractors or supervises laborers and trade workers at the construction site. Monitors work performance, progress, and productivity of subcontractors and laborers/craft workers. Assists in monitoring costs as specified in contract documents. Directly oversee the performance of workers completing all phases of construction to meet company standards and owner expectations.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.
- Temp Hourly Labor with Demo, Framing, Drywall, Painting experience
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
- Ability to clearly speak and understand the English language.
- Must be able to write with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of truck, tools, and equipment, and methods and procedures.
- Understands safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.
- Handle or assist with clean-up crews.
- Understands which construction materials belong on a job-site and what materials need to be removed.
Preferred Requirements
- Temp Hourly Labor with min 5 years Demo, Framing, Drywall, Painting, Millwork, Flooring experience
