Job Summary:

Urban Engineers of New York, D.P.C. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will lead facility mechanical engineering tasks for various projects, including assessment, design and construction quality inspection. The types of projects include high rise buildings, multi-unit housing, commercial and academic buildings, public facilities, transit/bus stations, and maintenance facilities.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

• Perform design tasks and on-site inspection services for MEP and fire protection projects
• Coordinate MEP work with architectural and other engineering disciplines
• Responsible for engineering activities related to:

o HVAC
o Boiler replacements
o Substations
o Electrical distribution
o Plumbing
o Fire protection systems
o Fire alarms
o Communication systems

• Perform special inspections on MEP components in accordance with NYC DOB rules and regulations

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
• PE License is required, preferably in New York
• 10 years of experience in facility mechanical engineering design as well as experience in inspection and assessments; preferably on New York City projects governed by the New York City Building code
• In-depth knowledge of building mechanical systems and a working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering and construction.
• Experience using engineering computer software such as Revit and AutoCAD is required
• Strong leadership skills to meet deadlines and manage contract work with minimal direction
• Excellent communication skills and effectively work with clients
