Summary
The Shop Service Manager is directly responsible for creating and managing annual cost budget for the company’s maintenance activities/shops. The Shop Service Manager leads on safety for their team, ensures work of team meets and exceeds company work and quality standards in a manner that fully supports a fast-paced construction field operation’s needs. The Shop Service Manager will directly supervise and schedule all work for their division in both in the MN and WI location along with supervising, monitoring, and coordinating the daily activities of the shop mechanics to ensure all company standards are met. The Shop Service Manager will do whatever is needed in a safe and ethical way to ensure the overall performance of the division meets or exceeds its goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive short term and big picture leadership & coaching to team members and interact with all external and internal customers in a clear and professional manner.
- Point person in shop environment managing the company’s maintenance management software, using computer and iPad to open, review and close work orders, track mechanic work assignments, schedule and adjust workload, generate required reports, enter employee time, etc.
- Effectively communicate daily goals, schedule and needs to team members in a proactive manner to meet the needs of the business
- Daily oversight and follow up on quality job performance by team members, this Includes working in MN and WI location, and possible visits to job during the day to ensure the maintenance of equipment for quality work at expected production rates.
- Ensure all team members are following up on any faults in pre-and post-trips on vehicles and that the vehicles are being maintained at company and all DOT requirements. Examining and diagnosing trucks and equipment for damage, wear, and malfunctions.
- Review vehicle and heavy equipment specifications for technical requirements and ensure all maintenance routines are in place to maximize equipment availability for field operations.
- Lead on all audit tools used by field equipment users or other tools/systems used to maintain the company’s equipment
- Ensure that team members are following all safety procedures and implementing safety requirements for team members for specific tasks.
- Maintaining and tracking inventory for their division and ordering parts and materials needed to maintain the companies on road and off-road equipment.
- Provide on the job training to team members as needed and assist team members in performing duties.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, 2-year certification/degree in heavy equipment maintenance preferred
- Minimum of 5 years Shop Service Management experience in a modern, progressively managed multiple location shop environment.
- High proficiency in use of technology, including maintenance management software and associated tools, word, excel, I-phone, I-pads and use of the internet
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to identify and find a solution to a variety of situations common in a maintenance setting.
- Knowledgeable in and proven abilities with maintaining on road heavy trucks and construction equipment.
- Must have ability to interact with external and internal customers and partners in a fast pace, multitasking environment, working independently with a high degree of problem solving
- Maintain a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.
- Travel when required throughout Minnesota and surrounding states (less than 5%)
