Summary

Balfour Beatty is currently seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our Procurement team in Dallas, TX! The Procurement Specialist will be accountable for the support of end to end sourcing programs which will include; data collection and analysis, interrogation of multiple data sources and preparation of data to inform procurement decisions, preparation of RFI and RFP documents, tender evaluation, contract negotiations and implementation of Supplier Relationship Management processes as well as managing robust communication with suppliers and internal customers.

Key procurement category areas include, but are not limited to: Construction trade categories, Professional Services, Travel, Facilities Management, Technology & Communications, Logistics & Shipping, General Administration, Marketing & Print, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze, consolidate and rationalize historical spend data within assigned categories.
  • Provide support in preparing category-level forecasts and financial performance reports.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders in order to influence behaviors and ensure appropriate involvement of Procurement in all relevant sourcing activities.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders including senior and junior members of the National Strategic Procurement function and/or third party suppliers.
  • Develop, implement, communicate and monitor a comprehensive preferred supplier network across categories feeding into an overall category plan.
  • Develop, implement, communicate and monitor supplier reporting and benefits tracking metrics to demonstrate continued value of procurement activities.
  • Implement robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) processes, ensuring metrics, governance, and actions are in place for continuous improvement.
  • Support savings project activities (including RFPs, RFIs, direct negotiations, etc) under the guidance of the Procurement Manager.
  • Deliver a clear communications strategy for cascading news of important activities to stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, contract management, and negotiating with vendors or suppliers required. 
  • Familiarity with raw data analysis and expertise in Microsoft Excel (power pivot tables, v-lookups, advanced formulas, etc.)
  • Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, the internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).

Preferred Experience

  • Associates Degree in a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Construction procurement experience and/or construction industry experienced preferred, but not required.
  • One to two years of procurement experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using business analytics and visualization tools (DOMO or Power BI) a plus. 
  • Experience working with Google Docs.
  • Highly focused on internal and external customers and concerned with meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Knowledge of contracts and contract negotiation.
  • Good listening skills and able to focus on issues critical to stakeholders.
  • Sharp, critical thinker, with persistent personality.
  • Able to prepare detailed, error-free analyses and present findings in a clear, concise manner.
  • Independent worker with high degree professionalism and integrity.
