Job Summary

Safety summer internship (May-Aug) employed in the Safety and Environmental Department in Mendota Heights, MN. The internship is M-F from 7:30am to 4:00pm.

  • Review and support internal and external audits and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Safety.
  • Assist in supporting integration of safety policies and practices at various levels of the company designed to reduce incidents and claims.
  • Advise and assist in the development and implementation of plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure safety programs are aligned with company and site goals.
  • Assist in conducting incident/accident investigations.
  • Analyze safety trends. Recommend and carry out improvement initiatives based on this data.
  • Support records and data management functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Health & Safety, Environmental, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail

  • Professional, positive demeanor
  • Communicates clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Terms and Conditions

  • Internship duration: 3 months (May – August), full time employment; a reasonable compensation package will be provided.
  • At the end of the internship term, prepare and present a fifteen-minute presentation to share the details of the internship experience.
