Special-Lite manufactures engineered architectural products, which includes commercial entrance systems, interior aluminum (Type II) framing with swing or sliding aluminum framed doors, and FRP restroom partitions. Our interior and exterior complete entrance system products are fiberglass or aluminum flush doors with many door face texture options including wood grain, aluminum monumental (stile & rail) doors, fiberglass and aluminum framing. Our engineered, made to order architectural products are used in new construction and renovation projects for educational, commercial, institutional, industrial and municipal applications. The company was founded in 1971 and pioneered the use of fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) material for door skins in the early 1980's, and today is the largest volume producer of commercial FRP doors in the United States. 

Position Summary: Estimate, perform order entry, detail production order, price jobs and provide customer service for interior frames and doors from customer project information. Communicate with customers, outside representatives, and production employees to ensure accurate product fabrication. Review the material forms received from the customer to ensure that we are providing them with the best possible value and provide communication to the customer in a timely manner. 

Essential Functions:

• Create estimates from quote requests from our customers
• Enter purchase orders into our File Maker system accurately
• Create complete work orders for production from purchase order information supplied by our customers
• Provide the correct product to the customer
  • Answer technical questions regarding our products
  • Making suggestions on the best applications for each or our product lines
• Communicate accurately with customers and all departments
  • Direct email communication with customers and representatives
  • Phone communications are a required aspect of this position
  • The ability to give verbal directions to the production employees will be required
  • Informing the customer to expected lead times
• Handle any special projects as assigned
• Multitasking is a day to day expectation

Position Requirements:

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Frequent emails
  • Frequent phone calls
• Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Must be able to work in a computer environment
  • Will be expected to master our inhouse software system (CET)
• Ability to read blueprints and/or drawing specifications
  • Training will be provided as needed

• Must possess strong math skills
• Must be able to be calm and focused when faced with the pressures of deadlines
• Must possess the desire to work in a detail-oriented position
  • Accuracy will be expected
• Ability to be flexible in job responsibilities to meet demands of the team

Desired Knowledge & Experience:

• Construction background
• Familiarity with AutoCAD
• Project management experience
• Associates or higher degree
• Customer service background

 Physical Requirements:

• Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate equipment, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and twist.
• Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to approximately 40 pounds.

• Occasionally subject to loud noise and at times noise level may require the employee to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.

 Work Environment:

• Safety glasses are required on the production floor at all times.
• Employees are required to wear hearing protection in designated areas.
• Frequently subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and electrical current.
• Occasionally exposed to cold, hot, wet and/or humid shop conditions.
