An immediate opportunity exists in Middletown, OH for an experienced safety professional to support a broad range of programs and activities including regular inspections, investigations, analysis, auditing, testing and training.  Reporting to the Superintendent, the Safety Supervisor works with hands-on field operations to identify hazardous conditions environments in various a heavy industry setting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists in planning tool box talks and safety meetings. Will use handouts, presentations and hands on training with focus on hazardous work conditions
  • Assists supervisors in the development, review and revisions of pre-established Safe Job Procedures, Job Safety Hazard Assessment and Safety Tasks Assessments
  • Maintains the Safety Training and Tracking System software database
  • Trains employees in the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Responsible to deliver Position Safety and Health Orientation for new hires & transfers
  • Investigates, reviews, and responds to the employee safety and health issues. Prepares detailed reports of findings and root causes. Recommends action and follows up on outstanding issues.
  • Focused activity to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations. Applies Federal, State, and local safety and health standards.
  • Maintains a current 10, 30-hour OSHA certification with OSHA 500 series optional
  • Monthly reporting of open/closed unsafe conditions to the Corporate Safety Director
  • Initiates dialog with management and hourly staff to surface any unsafe working conditions. Immediate notification to leadership on duty of any observed unsafe act
  • Audits equipment and or work areas to assure that all prescribed repairs for unsafe equipment and or work areas are accomplished, identifies problems and makes recommendations for solutions
  • Coordinates emergency response drills and or emergency evacuation plans
  • Audits and maintain all MSDS/SDS chemical booklets to ensure completeness

Pay Structure

  • Non Exempt Status
  • $18.00 to $21.00/hour

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED with College diploma in safety, environmental or other related discipline preferred
  • CDL driving license preferred with a clean driving record
  • Industry-specific training certificates (ex. OSHA 10/30-Hour, COSS, ASP/CSP, CHMM, HAZWOPER, Confined Space Rescue, First Aid/CPR, etc.)
  • Powered industrial equipment certification or instructor qualifications preferred (i.e. fork truck, aerial lift, burden carrier, ride-on scrubber, etc.)
  • Ability to travel when needed
  • Ability to work industry seasonal outages, such as holidays, weekends and off shift hours
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read, write, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures to personnel as needed
