Job Summary

This position is responsible for management and administration of the daily Human Resource functions of the company. This includes policies and practices, personnel administration, laws and compliance, recruitment and staffing, compensation, benefits administration and all related services.  This role is an autonomous position that has supervisory responsibility for the other positions within the HR team.

 

Essential Functions and Requirements

Policies, Processes & Best Practices

 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HR policies, programs and practices
  • Update and maintain all necessary HR documents
  • Implement, administer and monitor HR plans and programs
  • Establish procedures for effective communications regarding policies, procedures and internal management communication
  • Develop recommendations to senior management for improvement of policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
  • Manage HR reporting to include established reports, distribution, metrics and other data
  • Ensure data retention and information systems are maintained
  • Assist with departmental budgeting process
  • Embrace technological innovations and seeks ways to improve performance and productivity

 

Compliance

  • Monitor developments in federal, state and local employment statutes to ensure corporate compliance
  • Manage annual compliance calendar and ensure all requisite filings and reports are submitted accurately and on time
  • Maintain G&A employee’s personnel files to include employment applications, performance appraisals, and salary increases in required systems
  • Serve in a support role to Chief Legal Office on employment legal issues with outside counsel and agencies

 

 

 

 

 

Talent Management

 

  • Provide support for Corporate Recruiting strategies and initiatives working with Corporate Recruiting Manager
  • Provide support for Talent Development initiatives working with the Training Programs Manager

 

Employee Relations

 

  • Develop and document a consistent Progressive Discipline process and facilitate corrective action proactively working with supervision
  • Manage promotion tracking and reporting processes
  • Manage employee departure and exit process
  • Conduct objective and thorough investigations working with Chief Legal Officer
  • Serve as a resource for supervisors and employees, assisting them with employee relations questions, concerns or problems

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Administer the compensation benchmarking process annually working with Chief Financial Officer and associated personnel
  • Manage participation in associated surveys to ensure timely completion, submission and receipt of results
  • Provide support to Benefits Coordinator by working together on the annual benefits renewal, open enrollment and other key fringe benefit initiatives

 

Other

  • Communicate, through the appropriate channels, any observations of noncompliance with established standards or other violations of policy or illegal actions that place personnel and the company at risk
  • Perform, with care, any control-related activities required as a function of the position
  • Meet corporate standard for development activity
  • Specific job responsibilities and projects will be assigned and directed by leadership

This position has regular contact with all levels of internal and field staff, the Operations & Executive Leadership Teams, customers, and third-party partners, vendors, and universities.  This position is a member of the Human Resources team and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a constantly changing environment – prioritization is essential
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; technical aptitude to learn internal systems and required packages
  • SPHR Certification by the HR Certification Institute and/or Society for Human Resource Management

 

Desired Characteristics:

 

  • Professional experience with multi-site employers and remote workforce management
  • Previous work experience in the construction industry and/or professional services

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Management

 

Working Conditions

 

The working conditions and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Required 40+ hours per week.  Office hours are 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with limited flexibility.  This is an exempt position that will require time in excess of 40 hours to complete the assigned responsibilities. Occasional travel is required – the employee must be able to travel to other company locations, job sites, vendor locations, and other business events as needed – sometimes on shorter notice.

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time. Travel to field construction sites and work locations will result in exposure to dust and dirt on a routine basis. Other conditions include foul odors, irritating noises, extreme heat, cold and other severe weather conditions, potential harsh movement/vibrations, wetness or humidity, and potential safety hazards.

 

Employees are expected to have, utilize, maintain and wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by BMWC, the client and any other applicable regulatory agency or management directive.

 

Physical Requirements

The employee may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, pull, grasp, sit or bend over for extended periods. The employee must be able to lift, carry and move up to 30 pounds as needed. Employees in this position must be able to walk around indoor and outdoor job sites with distances up to one-half mile on uneven, paved, gravel, dirt or sandy surfaces.
