Construction Project Engineer

Donley's, a top-rated commercial construction company, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work as part of our Cleveland, OH office Interiors Group.

Typical Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Work with project manager, superintendent and estimating department on subcontractor and supplier bid tab sheets to determine lowest responsible bidder.
  • Assist project manager and scheduling personnel in preparation of project and billing schedules; updating same throughout project; and, analyzing schedules for potential issues.
  • Review of shop drawings for accuracy; maintain drawing log and coordination of multi-discipline submittals as required by trades and contracts.
  • Coordination of multi-discipline submittals as required.
  • Confirm budget quantities, as needed, and revise budgets based on same and as assigned; perform job cost studies as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing monthly estimated completion quantities for monthly invoicing.
  • Assist in processing change orders and change management processes as assigned, and develop quantity take offs for change orders and work orders, as needed.
  • Review engineering Bills of Material to verify material requirements for the job and work with engineering and purchasing to ensure sufficient lead time to obtain materials when needed.
  • Coordinate job meetings; take meeting minutes and finalize/distribute same to necessary parties; assist Project Manager with other administrative responsibilities.
  • Prepare as-built drawings for Donley's work and coordinate obtaining as-built drawings from subcontractors.
  • Prepare notification of project close-out requirements in conformance with project documents with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Work with estimating personnel to develop agenda for internal close-out meetings.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Manage the RFI process.
  • Equipment and material delivery status report, as assigned by PM, for subcontractors and scheduling purposes; provide information regarding same to PM and superintendent on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:

To be successful as a Project Engineer, you will need:

• Undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering, or other relevant technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of relevant construction experience with higher education experience highly preferred
• Basic understanding of construction document control.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A strong sense of urgency and a positive, proactive desire to support a broad range of assignments.
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work on cross-functional teams as well as independently.
• Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
• The ability to interact professionally and effectively with managers, co-workers, subcontractors, and construction craft employees.
