SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Mears Group, a Quanta Services Company, safely provides comprehensive infrastructure services to fiber, wireline and wireless carrier customers within the communications industry. We are currently looking to hire a Telecom GIS/CAD Specialist for our Sacramento, CA location. Successful candidates will provide design and technical skills to a team of engineers, designers, and planners to participate in a variety of telecom projects.
Our projects are regulated by federal and state laws which require all employees to successfully pass criminal background checks, MVR, and drug tests (post-employment and random testing).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(Based upon level of position, not all functions may apply)
- Aid in the production of construction drawings to include GIS design and the development of standard details and standard prototypes at front end of project
- Modify and/or refine details and prototypes at the direction of the Design Engineer
- Optimize efficiency and production
- Communicate with other project team members and make occasional field design walks to obtain necessary data and requirements
- Follow schedule of priorities as established by Design Engineer
- Adhere to MEARS standards for electronic and paper files
- Utilize MEARS CAD standards and follow requirements set by the Design Engineer on each project.
- Learn new technology necessary for expanding work base
- General documents preparation, data entry, creating work order construction prints, records posting
- Ability to work multiple projects at the same time and meet all requirements
- Communicate and resolve any design issues with internal and external customers
- Comply with all safety requirements- reinforce all internal and external safety practices and policies
- Prepare manual redline drawings and High-Level Designs when required
- Prepare electronic drawings using computer aided drafting systems when required
- Understanding of local, county, state permit requirements (e.g., Traffic Control, encroachment, Right Of Way, easement, etc.).
- Recognize process waste and suggest changes
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Skills):
- Previous utility construction experience
- 3 years engineering planning or general engineering experience.
- Must have experience in Underground/Aerial Utility construction and Network Installation
- Must have computer skills and experience with Microsoft office applications, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of ESRI and ArcGIS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technology degree, CAD diploma or certificate from accredited school preferred
- 3+ years’ experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS (Version 2000 or later) is required
- Solid understanding of AutoCAD MAP and GIS and mapping concepts.
