We are currently seeking several controls positions in lighting and mechanical controls, this posting is for an Energy Project Manager to join our growing business in Albany, New York!

Job Description:

The Project Manager oversees all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The Project Manager is responsible for coordination and completion of the project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The Project Manager is generally responsible for more than one project at a time.  The Project Manager must have construction or buildings knowledge, as they are managing sub-contractors and many aspects of construction or implementation while representing AEC in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret project and equipment specifications and plans.
  • Conduct site surveys.
  • Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining the project and have ownership of the budget.
  • Must continuously monitor progress in terms of the status of the plan and the budget and report back to management and the client via weekly or other progress reporting and by organizing and managing status meetings.
  • Must identify, log, analyze and manage potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head on and reviewing how more serious issues and risks might impact on scope, schedule, quality and cost.
  • Must be courteous and polite in written and oral communication, and be able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences.
  • The Project Manager will identify the need for resources, and should subsequently take on team management responsibilities in relation to the resources available to the project.
  • Work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks.
  • Alternatively, the work or parts of the work may be done by third party contractors, managed and co-ordinated by the Project Manager.
  • Must be able to create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date.
  • Responsible for bringing the project to a close, which may include creating an end of project report or evaluation document, holding ‘sunset’ meetings and activities, and capturing and using relevant lessons learned.
  • The Project Manager may need to create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management.
  • Work preference for a fast-paced customer-centered work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft products and other business applications such as Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSME or BSEE
  • Supervisory experience
