We are currently seeking several controls positions; this posting is for a Business/Operations Manager to join our growing business in Albany, New York!

Job Description

We are looking for long term, career oriented individuals who aspire to challenge themselves and grow their capabilities with the team around them. 

The Business/Operations Manager position will work closely with the executive, sales, engineering and project management teams to oversee, enhance, and grow the delivery of our projects and services to our client base.

This position will create, review, measure and manage business process, as well as team members, and certain financial components of the growing business. This position will focus on the entire business(es), operating as a manager and a leader, including (but not limited to) the duties and responsibilities listed below. This person must be skilled in coaching others on business needs, sales improvement opportunities, financial and financing concepts, contractual techniques, business/sales strategies and business plan implementation. Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills are required.

Previous entrepreneurial, general management, energy efficiency, or contracting experiences are a positive. Any HR, marketing, or other leadership experiences are also preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage, and assist, corporate personnel and process to achieve growth, cost control,  and superior delivery of products and services;

  • Manage resources and report to the CEO/Founder of the company

  • Support and assist in creating and fostering a strong team dynamic

  • Supervision of a staff of outreach, marketing, administrative and engineering personnel

  • Setting team priorities and working to accomplish program goals in an expeditious manner

  • Budget management and tracking of performance against goals

  • Implement policies, procedures, and organizational structure within the framework of corporate policy

  • Preparation of written reports

  • Ability to interview, hire and make employment based decisions

  • Oversee certain accounting and finance functions

  • Enhance delivery of services to customers, and work to maintain or grow Company profitability

  • Coordinate and confer with professional staff to resolve operating problems and difficulties

  • Serve as management team member.

  • In conjunction with the executive, and sales teams, work with project managers and sub-contractors towards corporate goals.

  • Be responsible for maintaining good working relationships and promoting good public relations with the team, suppliers, sub-contractors, partners, and the community.

  • Perform additional assignments per management direction.

  • Enhance and grow the company’s culture.

    Required Skills or Qualifications:

  • A BA or BS degree or equivalent experience or degree.

  • Five to 10 years of business operations experience

  • Any experience specifically with energy efficiency or a closely related field is preferred

  • Experience managing a team of 5+ direct reports

  • Strong communication skills as demonstrated by experience with presentations, papers or other public forums

  • Strong quantitative skills with an attention to detail

  • Strong report-writing skills

  • Budget management experience

  • Strong ability to multi-task and management multiple projects

  • Data management and computer skills including MS Office

  • A former owner/entrepreneur, CFO, general manager, OR energy efficiency background with a knowledge of energy efficient technologies and practices is preferred
