Mennonite Village is a not-for-profit, equal opportunity employer, CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) facility that provides 24 hours/7 days a week care located in Albany Oregon. We are currently hiring a Part Time Activities Assistant for our Quail Run Assisted Living Facility which cares for aging persons with varying levels of physical, social and mental capabilities. Working under the direction of the Activity Coordinator, this position will assist in both on and off-site recreational activities for residents, focusing on the dimensions of wellness (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, and environmental). This is a part time position at 25-28 hours per week. Scheduled days will be Tuesday-Saturday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Represents the activity program to residents, families, staff, and the public.
  • Assists with providing materials for residents with special needs such as those with hearing or visual impairments.
  • Attends monthly Resident Meetings, takes and posts minutes. 
  • Writes the Quail Run Insider Newsletter and distributes on a monthly basis.
  • Performs administrative office tasks as assigned by Activities Coordinator.
  • Maintains resident records as well as other pertinent forms.
  • Reports any concerns of resident health and well-being immediately to Activity Coordinator and/or Nursing staff.
  • Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
  • Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.
  • Abide by the standards and procedures of the Mennonite Village Compliance and Privacy Program and Values and Expectations Statement.
  • Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
  • Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
  • Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supportive of Mennonite Village philosophy and mission.
  • Ability to work with and communicate with older adults.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative, and willing to learn in order to enhance the lives of our residents. 
  • Ability to make timely decisions and work independently concerning all aspects of resident, staff, and visitor participation.
  • Ability to push and/or pull wheelchairs and other equipment.
  • Ability to compile, copy, sort and maintain accurate records of resident activities.
  • Proficient in the operation of office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Current CPR and AED certification or willingness and ability to obtain.
  • Current Food Handler’s card or willingness and ability to obtain.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English. 
  • Ability to communicate by phone.
