DUTIES:
Develop Nicholson’s tunneling business, ensuring maximum market penetration in North America. Provide technical expert consultation to assist Design Engineers in creating the best tunneling plans for each project and transferring technology from worldwide experiences. Jumpstart major tunnel construction projects after award and create project benchmarks. Create detailed work plans which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete project. Manage proposal requests and coordinate bid preparation with engineers. Prepare technical memos and prequalification proposals. Oversee the preparation of estimates and preliminary pricing. Engage in the preparation and compilation of the necessary documents, information and technical inputs required for the completion of tender documentation. Maintain a high level of TBM (tunnel boring machine) technical proficiency and serve as technical mentor and guide production team through complex project challenges. Train local personnel when needed. This position requires some domestic and international travel to client sites, as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Must have ten (10) years’ experience in job offered or as Production Manager, Tunnel Superintendent, or Senior Engineer for large tunneling projects. Must have five (5) years’ experience with commercial tunneling contracts in the U.S. Must have ten (10) years’ experience managing tunneling projects with more than 100 employees. Must have advanced proficiency in: Geotechnical Techniques, Soft Ground Tunneling, Hyperbaric Tunneling Work, Precasting Operations, General Construction Techniques, Trenchless Construction, Mechanical and Electrical Components of Underground Equipment, Material Development (concrete, grout, steel…)
