American Lighting and Signalization is seeking a motivated and skilled Traffic Signal Installer.

General duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Installs traffic signals, pedestrian signals and push buttons and wire.
  • Installs underground conduit and pull boxes.
  • Responsible for the placement of concrete and timber poles.
  • Performs interstate and roadwork.
  • Repairs and replaces some fiber-optic equipment.
  • Operates various tools for work, including various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-along, jackhammers, drills, chipping guns, ground rod drivers, hand lines, etc.
  • Drives a company provided pick-up truck to and from every order.
  • Is expected to keep truck well maintained and report to General Foreperson any issues involving maintenance of truck.
  • Works around customers and general public consistently and is expected to maintain a very high level of professionalism.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Must be able to wear necessary PPE as per task assigned.
  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and verbal instructions/information.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidence during emphasized circumstances.
  • A well maintained driving record is expected.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Must pass a background / MVR check.  

Hazards:

  • Exposed to traffic.
  • Works in all temperatures and weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to nature i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects, and dust.
  • Works with energized electrical equipment.
  • May be exposed to animals, i.e., dogs, cats, etc.
  • May work in tight spaces.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arranges with customer or property owner to obtain access to property, advises of any interruption in services, explains work to be performed, etc.
  • Discusses responsibility for apparent damage to property, repairs for minor damage, and refers controversial cases to the General Foreperson/Project Coordinator.
  • Job sites frequently change and the Inspector would spend some time in transit from one site to another.
