Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing day-to-day oversight to the Deposit Services team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing savings and checking account programs, IRA & HSA support, certificates of deposit, and support the day-to-day activities of the retail deposit division of the Bank. Monitor and review existing bank depository products and develop new depository products and services.
Job Duties
Deposit Accounts
- Report deposit activity and various other items pertaining to retail activity monthly.
- Leads the Deposit Rate Committee. Analyzes and makes recommendations on rate changes. Leads the communication of and implementation of rate changes.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the New Accounts Manual to assist in training and to provide reference at the New Accounts desks.
- Reviews and analyzes monthly deposit reports. Review and submit invoices for payment.
- Manages Deposit Platform program and end users.
- Assist in leading the quarterly New Accounts meetings
- Serves as backup IRA/HSA Administrator.
- Serves as backup Administrative Assistant, Deposit Accounts (CDARS Program – The Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service).
Cash Management
- Prepare sweep proposals as requested, prepare all documentation on new sweep accounts, and assist in problem solving and account reconciliation on sweep accounts. Conduct bi-annual review of all sweep customers and implement account fee structure changes as necessary.
- Responsible for the preparation and delivery of customer presentations on cash management and sweep accounts.
- Manages deposit relationship with Public Fund entities. Prepare depository bids as needed.
- Satisfactorily complies with bank policy and regulatory compliance that apply to position.
Product Development
- Analyze products on a regular basis against competition; develop and implement new product lines that continual bring value to customer base. Both on Retail and Business side.
- work with various vendors to analysis and implement/maintain products and back end product administration; negotiate vendor contracts. Ability to manage projects.
Officer Responsibility
• Work closely with compliance to ensure disclosures agreements are in place for new products.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides leadership and guidance for employees in Deposit Services Department. As the leader is responsible for the hiring, performance assessment and development of employees within the department. Serves as a role model of F&M’s core values in all aspects of their role. Continually ensures the Deposit Services department’s role is aligned with and supports the Mission and Vision of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree (B. A.) in business or accounting preferred, 7 to 10 years of banking experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of management or supervisory experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in bank operations and complete working knowledge of departmental and bookkeeping responsibilities, such as general ledger accounting, reconcilements, deposit regulations, non-post processing, IRA and HSA account administration/reporting requirements and key control requirements that directly relate to deposit operations
- General background and experience with financial institution operating policies and procedures, especially regulatory and internal control requirements
- Experience working Core Processor, experience with Fiserv a plus.
- Promitory, CDARS/ICS, eFunds – 3 years
Knowledge and Skills
- Superior interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with Operations staff, bank clients, auditors, and outside vendors
- Ability to present to wide range of audiences. Previous experience with C-Suite and Board presentations preferred. Strong written communication; strong oral communication.
- Collaboration – Ability to work across departments to ensure the timely launch of products.
- Project management – proven experience bringing products from idea to implementation
- Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations to management
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and motivate staff members
- Capable of handling customer and teammate contact situations tactfully and professionally
